Your Presenter

Carrington Goidel, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Carrington Goidel is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in LGBTQ+ affirming care, trauma, and family therapy. She brings a trauma-informed, relational approach to each session, with a focus on practical clinical strategies clinicians can apply immediately. In this live webinar, Carrington walks participants through evidence-based ADHD intervention, showing how to combine CBT strategies with executive-functioning skill building, blending established frameworks with the kind of case discussion and Q&A that only a live format allows.
Why Attend This Webinar Live?
ADHD intervention is highly practical work, and the skills are best learned by seeing them modeled and troubleshooting them in dialogue rather than reading about them alone. Attending live gives you something a self-paced course cannot: the ability to ask questions in the moment, work through real client challenges in real time, and learn from the questions your peers raise.
Bring your toughest clinical questions. Carrington answers participant questions throughout the webinar, so you leave with clarity on the ADHD presentations that actually show up in your caseload rather than generic guidance.
Work through realistic ADHD cases and practice designing skill-building interventions as a group. Hearing how experienced clinicians match strategies to individual executive-functioning profiles builds the clinical judgment that written materials alone cannot teach.
Complete 3 CE hours in one focused, structured session. Your live CE certificate is issued after the webinar, giving you a meaningful block of your renewal requirement in a single afternoon.
Understanding the Scope: ADHD in Clinical Practice
ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental conditions clinicians encounter, and it persists far more often into adulthood than many providers realize. Understanding the scope of ADHD helps mental health professionals recognize why practical, skills-based intervention matters across the lifespan.
Research consistently indicates that ADHD affects far more than attention: it disrupts executive functions such as planning, organization, working memory, time management, and emotional regulation. Studies show that combining medication with skills-based psychotherapy produces better functional outcomes than medication alone for many clients. Whether you work with children, adolescents, or adults, a working knowledge of CBT for ADHD and executive-functioning skill building gives you concrete tools that address the daily challenges clients bring to session.
Live ADHD Intervention Webinar Overview
This live continuing education webinar was developed in 2025 for mental health professionals and is delivered in real time by Carrington Goidel, LCSW. ADHD is far more than a problem of attention; it is a disorder of self-regulation and executive functioning that shapes how clients plan, organize, manage time, and control impulses and emotions. This 3-hour live webinar provides licensed professional counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, and addiction counselors with a practical, intervention-focused approach to ADHD across the lifespan.
The webinar begins with a working model of ADHD as an executive-functioning and self-regulation condition, connecting the underlying deficits to the concrete struggles clients report. Participants learn how cognitive-behavioral therapy for ADHD targets the thoughts, behaviors, and environmental factors that maintain difficulties, and how to adapt CBT so it works for clients whose attention, memory, and follow-through are themselves affected.
Beyond theory, this training emphasizes skill building: practical strategies for organization, planning, time management, task initiation, and emotional regulation that clients can put into practice between sessions. Because it is delivered live, you can raise your own clinical questions and hear the presenter reason through them alongside you.
Who Should Attend This Live Webinar?
This live ADHD intervention training is designed for licensed mental health professionals across all disciplines and experience levels, working in private practice, community mental health, hospitals, schools, and other settings where they support clients with attention and executive-functioning challenges.
Counselors provide the majority of outpatient mental health services and frequently work with children, adolescents, and adults whose ADHD affects school, work, and relationships. This training helps counselors deliver CBT for ADHD and coach executive-functioning skills that make a measurable difference in daily functioning.
Social workers support clients with ADHD across hospitals, agencies, schools, and private practice, often alongside other stressors. This ASWB ACE-approved webinar gives social workers practical tools for teaching organization, planning, and self-regulation skills and coordinating support across the systems in a client's life.
Family therapists see how ADHD ripples through parent-child relationships, couples, and household routines. This training helps MFTs address the relational impact of ADHD while coaching clients and families in executive-functioning skills and CBT-based strategies that reduce conflict and build structure.
ADHD frequently co-occurs with substance use and complicates recovery through impulsivity and difficulty with follow-through. This NAADAC-approved webinar helps addiction professionals recognize ADHD in their clients and integrate skill-building and CBT strategies that support both symptom management and recovery.
Psychologists conducting assessments, providing therapy, or supervising trainees benefit from current, practical knowledge of ADHD intervention. This webinar covers CBT for ADHD, executive-functioning skill building, and case formulation that complement assessment and treatment across settings.

What This Live Webinar Covers
Build a working model of ADHD grounded in self-regulation and executive functioning. Connect underlying deficits in working memory, inhibition, and self-direction to the concrete struggles clients report with follow-through, organization, and emotional control.
Explore how CBT for ADHD targets the thoughts, behaviors, and environmental factors that maintain difficulty, and how it differs from CBT for mood and anxiety. Learn to address avoidance, procrastination, negative self-talk, and the demoralization that often accompanies years of unmet expectations.
Teach concrete systems for capturing tasks, breaking projects into steps, and building reliable routines. Learn to help clients design external structures such as planners, reminders, and checklists that compensate for executive-functioning gaps.
Address the time blindness and procrastination that define daily life with ADHD. Coach clients in prioritization, estimating and structuring time, and getting started on tasks through strategies such as chunking, timers, and reducing barriers to initiation.
Help clients recognize and manage the emotional dysregulation and impulsivity that frequently accompany ADHD. Apply strategies for pausing before acting, tolerating frustration, and responding rather than reacting in high-stakes moments.
Adapt interventions across the lifespan and to co-occurring conditions, and involve families, partners, and other systems in reinforcing skills. Address ethical and culturally responsive practice, including collaboration with prescribers and respect for each client's goals and context.

Executive-Functioning Skill Building: The Core Framework
The most durable gains in ADHD treatment come from building executive-functioning skills and pairing them with CBT strategies that keep clients using them. Rather than expecting clients to simply try harder, this approach teaches concrete systems and coping strategies that compensate for the underlying deficits. This live webinar walks through each domain and gives you the chance to ask how to apply it with your own clients.
Step 1: Assess the Executive-Functioning Profile. Map where the client struggles most across planning, organization, working memory, time management, task initiation, and emotional regulation. Targeting the specific deficits, rather than ADHD in general, makes intervention far more effective.
Step 2: Externalize and Structure. Move demands out of the client's head and into reliable external systems such as planners, reminders, checklists, and visual cues. External structure compensates for working-memory and organization deficits so success does not depend on remembering.
Step 3: Build Time-Management and Initiation Skills. Teach prioritization, time estimation, and strategies for getting started, including chunking tasks, using timers, and lowering the barrier to the first step. These skills directly counter time blindness and procrastination.
Step 4: Add CBT Strategies for Follow-Through. Use cognitive-behavioral techniques to address the avoidance, negative self-talk, and demoralization that undermine new habits. Reframe setbacks, reinforce effort, and build the motivation and consistency that skills require to stick.
Step 5: Strengthen Emotional Regulation and Generalize. Coach strategies for managing frustration and impulsivity in the moment, then plan for generalizing skills across home, school, and work with the support of families, partners, and other systems.
