Is Therapy Trainings accepted in New York?
Unfortunately, Therapy Trainings CE is not currently accepted by New York licensing boards for any of the five professions covered. New York requires CE from state-approved providers only.
Why does New York use a 3-year renewal cycle?
New York requires 36 hours over 3 years (averaging 1 hour per month) for most mental health professions. Addiction counselors follow a 2-year, 40-hour cycle under OASAS.
What is the self-study limit in New York?
For Social Workers and Psychologists, no more than 12 hours (or one-third of total hours for periods other than 3 years) may be self-study. Self-study must be from NY State Education Department approved providers.
What is the MAT training requirement for addiction counselors?
All CASACs must complete a one-time, 3-hour Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) training. This is separate from the regular renewal CE requirements.
