What is the difference between Category A and Category B activities?

Category A includes formal courses, professional workshops, seminars, symposia, and authoring/reviewing publications. Category B includes online or informal courses, in-house seminars, individualized studies, and distance programs. Most professions require the majority of hours to be in Category A.

What is the new anti-oppressive social work practice requirement?

Beginning October 31, 2024, Maryland Social Workers must include anti-oppressive practice content in their Category I hours. Topics include cultural humility, social justice, racial equity, implicit bias, and anti-racism practices focusing on race, culture, or equity.

Is Therapy Trainings approved for Maryland Psychologists?

Yes! Unlike many states, Therapy Trainings CE is accepted by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists based on our NASW approval. Maryland psychologists can use our courses for their CE requirements.

What are the supervision requirements for first-time supervisors?

For Social Workers seeking first-time supervisory approval, 12 hours of supervision CE is required. For renewal, Board-approved supervisors need 3 hours every 2 years. Psychologists who supervised associates must complete at least 3 hours in clinical supervision activities.

How many hours can I complete online?

It varies by profession. Counselors can complete all hours as Category A (which includes our courses). MFTs can do up to 10 hours as Category B. Social Workers can do 20 hours (15 for LBSWs) as Category II. Addiction Counselors are limited to 10 hours of online/distance learning.
