This text-based course was developed in 2023 for Mental Health Professionals. This course educates on spousal or partner abuse, offering insights into its patterns, causes, impacts, and practical tools for intervention and support.

This comprehensive course aims to provide mental health professionals with a deep understanding of spousal or partner abuse. Participants will gain insights into the patterns, causes, and consequences of abuse, along with tools and techniques to support survivors and address perpetrators. By course completion, mental health professionals will be better equipped to offer interventions, contribute to prevention efforts, and advocate for victims and survivors.
Course Objectives:
In this course, you will learn to:
understand the historical and societal context of spousal or partner abuse and its impact on mental health outcomes;
identify the signs and symptoms of spousal or partner abuse in diverse populations and settings;
assess the immediate safety needs of individuals experiencing spousal or partner abuse;
apply therapeutic interventions and best practices in providing support to victims/survivors of spousal or partner abuse;
recognize the potential for re-traumatization and develop strategies to minimize its impact during therapeutic interventions;
examine the interconnectedness of spousal or partner abuse with other forms of interpersonal violence and its implications for mental health, and
reflect on personal biases, beliefs, and attitudes related to spousal or partner abuse, and cultivate a trauma-informed approach to care.

Course completion requirements: To earn CE credit, professionals must purchase the course, read/listen to the presentation, and complete the posttest (with a passing score of 80%) and course evaluation. Posttests may be retaken as many times as you need. Certificates of completion will be emailed immediately after course completion and can be accessed from your account anytime.
This course has been approved by Therapy Trainings™, as a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, for 5 CE hours. NAADAC provider #270493. Therapy Trainings™ is responsible for all aspects of its programming.
