Course Overview: 

This comprehensive training program is designed to equip social workers with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundations required to excel in the role of a supervisor. Over 16 modules, participants will explore various aspects of supervision, from theoretical foundations to practical applications, ethical considerations, and interpersonal dynamics. By the end of this course, participants will be well-prepared to provide effective supervision in the field of social work.

 

Course Objectives: 

In this course, you will:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical foundations and models of social work supervision, including key concepts such as parallel processes and reflective practice.
  • Enhance communication skills for establishing and maintaining productive supervisory relationships, including active listening, providing constructive feedback, and managing conflicts.
  • Explore social work supervisors' ethical and legal responsibilities, including informed consent, confidentiality, and boundaries, and learn how to navigate ethical dilemmas.
  • Develop the ability to provide culturally competent supervision, recognizing and addressing issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in supervisory practice.
  • Become proficient in various supervision models and methods, including administrative, clinical, and task-centered approaches, and adapt them to specific practice settings.
  • Foster self-awareness and self-reflective practice as supervisors, enabling a deeper understanding of one's supervisory style, biases, and impact on supervisees.
  • Facilitate the professional growth and development of supervisees by setting clear goals, conducting performance evaluations, and providing guidance and resources for skill enhancement.
